In
1961, my father Sam Mele opened Sam’s Cold Cuts
in the Olney section of Philadelphia. For 16 years my family
was producing ravioli, fresh pastas and Italian sausage,
with recipes brought with them from Italy. In 1977, the
business was moved to Willow Grove. We expanded; Sam’s
Italian Market began providing the community with a wide
selection of imported Italian products, delicatessen meats,
Italian sausage and pasta products made on the premises.
With Sam’s own foresight and my brother Adam’s
hard work, the bakery was added in 1988. You will find a
wide assortment of baked goods, including Italian breads,
rolls and tomato pies all baked in-house. In keeping with
Sam’s tradition of providing the customer with what
they've asked for, we have our own line of freshly prepared
entrees. In 2006 the market was remodeled and the newest
addition is our line of cakes and Italian pastries. Come
in for a visit and experience how over 40 years of fine
Italian recipes, the freshest ingredients and impeccable
service have made Sam’s Italian Market and Bakery a successful
family business.
